Ryan Beckwith
OWNER
Ryan Beckwith is the owner of A3 Sports Performance, where he has dedicated over 20 years to helping athletes achieve their goals in both sports and life. His expertise spans biomechanics, speed and power training, weightlifting for athletes, and holistic athlete development.
A former three-sport athlete in high school, Ryan earned a full football scholarship to California State University, Northridge, where he obtained his Bachelor’s in Communication Studies. He also competed in track and field. He later transferred to the University of Georgia, where he continued his track and field career while earning a Master of Education in Sport Management.
Ryan’s professional journey began at the University of Georgia, where he served as Associate Director of the Georgia G-Club and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, specializing in speed mechanics for the football program. He then joined UCLA as Head Strength Coach for Soccer, Tennis, Track, Rowing, and Assistant Strength Coach for Football and Basketball, also guest lecturing in Exercise Science. Following his tenure at UCLA, Ryan became the first Director of Speed, Strength, and Conditioning at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, CA, where he also coached sprinters with varsity track.
He continued his career at the College of San Mateo as an Assistant Track and Field Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach for Basketball, and as an Adjunct Instructor. Additionally, he has worked as a personal fitness trainer and Director of Athletic Performance at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Driven by a personal dream, Ryan spent time training as a professional decathlete in pursuit of his dream of competing in the Olympics. After meeting his wife Kalli and moving to Bakersfield, Ryan ultimately “retired the spikes” and transitioned to the role as Director of Athletics at Bakersfield College. After two years, Ryan greatly missed the direct interaction with student-athletes, and subsequently founded A3 Sports & Wellness, Inc. in 2013, followed by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Athletes’ Advantage Academy, Inc. in 2014. Both allow him to live out his passion for coaching and developing student-athletes.
